TWO MEETINGS IN MARCH

Our March 16th meeting was the best attended monthly meeting in the history of RCWW. We had 28 in attendance. Kim Davis’ talk, My Call to Write. went hand-in-glove with Chuck Crismier’s talk, Writing from God’s View Point. (Rebekah did not assign topics and neither speaker knew the other’s subject.)

Now, we need to build on this momentum at our

SECOND
March Meeting Program
Saturday, March 29th, 6:00 to 9:00 PM

My Call to Writing, My Goals and My Progress

The meeting will be at Winn’s Baptist Church, 12320 Winn’s Church Road, Glen Allen, VA 23059. (Come off Rt. 295 at the Montpelier Exit (Route 33 West), pass Tyson Chicken on right, turn right on Route 660, Winn’s Church Road, go approximately 2 miles to Winn’s Baptist Church on your left. Enter the door at the Handicap Zone.)

Limit your piece to 1,000 words. Sign in as you arrive. You will read your piece in this order. If we have more readers than time will allow, we’ll follow up with another meeting. (This isn’t for critique or discussion.)

Bring your favorite salad and dessert to share. Cold beverages will be furnished.

2008 Marble Moving Program
At this meeting printed copies of the 2008 Marble Moving Program will be distributed. This is the next logical step in the sequence of March meetings. We’ve been inspired to write, we’ve evaluated our call, set our goals and marked our progress to date. Next we need to commit to write on a level we set and can achieve.

Rebekah, Tom and other RCWW members are committed to helping
you accomplish your call as a writer.

This is an excellent time to bring a friend.
See you on the 29th!

SPRING 2008 FLASH FICTION CONTEST

OVERVIEW:
WOW! hosts a (quarterly) writing contest every three months. The mission of this contest is to inspire creativity, communication, and well-rewarded recognition to contestants. The contest is open globally; age is of no matter; and entries must be in English. We are open to all styles of writing, although we do encourage you to take a close look at our guest judge for the season (upper right hand column) and the flavor of our sponsor, if you are serious about winning. We love creativity, originality, and light-hearted reads. That's not to say that our guest judge will feel the same... so go wild! Express yourself, and most of all, let's have some fun!

WORD COUNT:
Maximum: 500
Minimum: 250

The title is not to be counted in your word count. We use MS Word's word count to determine the submitted entry's word count.

You can write about anything, as long as it’s within the word count and fiction. So, dig out those stories you started way back when and tailor them to the word count. We’re open to any style and genre. From horror to romance! So, get creative, and most of all, have fun.
