As Christians who write, we meet together to promote unity and fellowship, to encourage one another and to develop our skills as writers. We are a chapter of American Christian Writers, a national organization.

We meet at Grove Avenue Baptist Church, 1 block south of Patterson Avenue at 8701 Ridge Road, Richmond, VA 23229 in Room 211.

We typically meet on the third Sunday of each month from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join us!

Shenandoah Living
Spring 2008 Magazine Writing Workshop

of writing feature magazine articles.


Workshop Schedule:

9:45-10:30 The Anatomy of a Feature Magazine Article

10:45-11:30 Dissecting the Sentence, and Piecing it Back Together: Use Grammar, Voice and Structure to Craft Sentences that Pop

11:30-12:15 Lunch

12:15-1:00 Using Forensics to Reconstruct the Story: Find the Angle, Ask the Right Questions and Organize the Draft

1:00-2:15 Let’s Practice: Writing Workshop

If you wish to have your materials considered for use as examples during the conference, send articles by Feb. 29.

Also send written permission for the publishers to critique your work publicly. Writing clips will be accepted by the publishers on the day of the conference, but will not be returned. Please do not provide original copies.

Individual critiques will not be possible on the day of the workshop.
A brief Q & A time will be provided at the end of each session. Please respect other attendees by focusing questions on the material presented.
